Shark Reef Marine Reserve

Some of the most spectacular dives can be experienced in the shark-rich waters at the Shark Reef Marine Reserve. A visit to the marine reserve is an unforgettable experience, as you will be surrounded by diverse species of fish and coral. There are 125 different types of sharks and more than 5,000 different species of mollusks and seaweed. The incredible Heart Reef formation, which is a heart-shaped coral reef, is one of the most spectacular places to see. This stunning structure is 17m in diameter and can be seen from above.

Half Moon Caye Wall

This spectacular dive site is home to many types of marine life. Recent discoveries have revealed that sharks call the wall their home. Be on the lookout for sea fans, brain coral, or other creatures while you're there. One or two turtles might be visible. If you are feeling adventurous, you might also want to explore the tunnels under coral outcrops.


Yongala

You have many options when it comes to diving on the SS Yongala. Townsville, just three hours away by fastboat, is the starting point for liveaboards. The dives here are about 30m deep and are best suited for Advanced certified divers. A day trip to the SS Yongala is an option if you are able to afford it. The trip takes about three hours total and includes two tanks.

Punta Vicente Roca

Punta VicenteRoca dive site is unique in that it is 200km from the closest inhabited island. A variety of sea creatures can be seen here, including red-lipped batfish, Galapagos marines iguanas, and black-striped schooling salema. The endemic Galapagos flightless comorants can also be captured by photographers.

Bonaire

Bonaire's divers will be amazed at the beauty and diversity of its diving sites. The most notable dive sites are located on the island's leeward shore, such as the 1000 Steps, which is named after the long narrow staircase that leads to its entrance. This site is a favourite with snorkellers and divers alike, with clear water and abundant schooling fish. This site, along with the Karpata dive spot, offers breathtaking drop-offs.
