Description of the job for a diving master

What is the job description of a dive master? In short, it involves a variety of duties, including assessing the risks of diving, supervising customer dives, delivering briefings and leading groups through a dive. Instructors in diving teach and oversee scuba techniques in open or swimming water. They can also organize and supervise activities other than training such as navigation. Open water diving instructors have the responsibility of leading students on tours, which includes the navigation exercise and the surface swimming portion. A dive instructor's job may include the supervision of certified divers during a scuba certification course. There are different laws that apply to dive instructors. The waiver signed by the dive instructor may exempt the diving instructor from legal responsibility in certain countries.

Certification requirements

You will need to complete a course if you want to become a divemaster. A Divemaster course covers topics such as setting up a dive site, managing a group of divers, conducting diver flows, and finding the flow for dives. The minimum number of dives candidates need to have completed must be at least 60. Instructors on dive courses can also benefit from the assistance of Divemasters, who can help novice divers learn theory and practice their skills.

Dive masters need to pass two parts of the exam in addition to taking classes. Candidats must score at most 75% for each section of the exam to pass it. The eRDPML and the PADI Instructor Manual will be used for the exam. Students also need to prepare an emergency assistance plan and complete five waterskills exercises. At least fifteen points must be combined. After completion of the course, divers must obtain certification.

Internship required

You have many internship options for becoming a Divemaster. You can either assist with PADI Courses or help to set up dive spots, depending on your preference. It is possible that you will be asked to assist in skill circuits. But, your internship will have a pattern. A typical internship will last eight weeks. During the same time, you might become an Advanced Open Water Diver. After four to six months of training, you may become a Divemaster/Diveguide.
