The University of Illinois Ice Arena is also known as Big Pond. It is located in Champaign, Illinois. It is managed by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. It hosts ice hockey and other events.

Opportunities to skate
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's ice arena is open to the general public. There are several steps to follow if you want to host a group event at this rink. First, you must make a reservation. To do this, visit the RSO Office, located in Room 284 of the Illini Union. A list of participants must be provided when you reserve ice. You'll also need to arrange for an instructor to visit the rink to answer questions during the rental period.
Center Ice Cafe
The University of Illinois Ice Arena's Center Ice Cafe is open to the public. Located adjacent to the Customer Service Office, the cafe offers food and beverages. The Ice Arena Pro Shop stocks a variety of skating and hockey accessories.
Free skate trainers
Champaign, Illinois is home to The University of Illinois Ice Arena. It is owned and operated by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The ice arena is free to use throughout the year. The public is welcome to use the rink for their figure skating and skateboarding skills.

Gas leak at UI Ice Arena
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has issued an Illini-Alert following a gas leak at its ice arena. After Ameren Illinois crews and firefighters discovered a gas leak, the building at 406 E. Armory Ave. was evacuated. To prevent further contamination, firefighters closed off a sideway leading to arena. The leak may have come from below the building.
