What is an Aqua-Lung and how does it work? In its most basic form, an Aqua-Lung can be described as a self-contained, open circuit breathing apparatus. Aqua-Lungs were the first self-contained, commercially viable breathing apparatus. This equipment is sometimes called a twin-hose regulator or demand valve. Aqua-lungs were created by Emile Gagnen and Jacques Cousteau.
Jacques Cousteau
Jacques Cousteau, in the 1940s, created the first underwater breathing apparatus that was self-contained and open-circuit. Cousteau was inspired by a demand-valve system that provided compressed oxygen to divers when they breathe underwater. This device, called the Aqua-Lung (or the Aqua-Lung), opened the world up to divers and anyone else who was interested in diving. The Aqua-Lung was the standard for divers all over the world, thanks to Cousteau.
Emile Gagnan
The Aqua Lung was invented by Jacques-Yves Cousteau and Emile Gagnan in the 1940s. The Aqua Lung's unique design is a result of the designs of earlier diving helmets from the 19th century. It allows underwater divers breathe through a mouthpiece which releases compressed air when activated by their breath. Gagnan refined the regulator valve that feeds compressed oxygen to the diver's mouthpiece. This is proportional to how much diver breathes. This device revolutionized diving and allowed divers to explore underwater depths for scientific research, military, and recreational purposes.

The first open-circuit demand regulator
Cousteau invented the Aqua-Lung in 1944, and it was patentable in 1946. Since then, the Aqua-Lung is a very popular scuba regulator. Gagnan, Cousteau’s father-in law, and Emile Gagnan his French colleague were also part the team. They all knew Cousteau's research and decided to collaborate and create the Aqua-Lung regulator.
The BC1
The BC1 Aqua Lung is an advanced back inflation BC for advanced commercial, military, and public safety divers. It is ruggedly designed and offers exceptional comfort, fit, stability, and support. The user manual provides details on the different weights that can fit into each pouch. The BC1 comes in two weight capacities: one for your chest and the other for your back. Different weight pouches can be used to customize the BC1 for individual needs.
The Titan
Aqua Lung Titan regulators are lightweight and very portable. The Aqua Lung Titan's lightweight design makes it easy to use, and the soft polyurethane covers provide a snug fit. Its light weight and robust design make it easy for extended diving. Its price is moderate, making it affordable for many people. It comes with two stages: one that prevents unwanted flow and another that prevents it from leaking.
The Mentor
Aqua lung Mentor, developed in conjunction with US Navy, is a regulator which replaces the old double hoses used for training divers for rebreather usage. Although not yet on sale, the Aqua lung is a great choice for professional divers seeking an alternative to double hose regulators. Here are some points to consider when purchasing the Aqualung Mentor. First, ensure that the Aqua lung mentor is calibrated.
